Sanatana Dharma College is a premier institution in Alappuzha, Kerala, India, affiliated with the University of Kerala. It is the oldest and one of the largest affiliated aided colleges under the University of Kerala. The College was established in 1946 under the initiative of Sri. K. Parthasarathy lyengar and Sri. V. Sundara Raja Naidu. It was an extension of the Sanatana Dharma Vidyasala established in 1905 by Rao Bahadur K. A. Krishna lyengar and Dr S. Venkitarama Naidu under the auspices of the Alappuzha chapter of the Theosophical Society, as a response to the increasing demand for higher education in the erstwhile state of Travancore. The college is managed by a non-profit making association, named Sanatana Dharma Vidyasala, that made a substantial contribution in the social, educational and cultural milieu of the otherwise backward district of Alappuzha in South Kerala. The college has been recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and is re-accredited by NAAC with A+ grade in the third cycle. Presently, the college has twelve teaching departments which offers thirteen undergraduate, nine postgraduate courses in Arts, Science and Commerce and all the post graduate departments are Research Centres under the University of Kerala. The college is governed by a committee headed by Shri. P. Krishnakumar as the Manager. Presently, Prof. (Dr.) K. H. Prema is the Principal of the college.
